Convergence on ‘TV Larry’
Here’s a little light reading on our favourite TV genius as we countdown to season 6. Just over a month to go!
VenturaCountryStar report on a press conference with Larry, Jeff and Cheryl. With trademark sardonic wit, Larry shows reporters just how much like “TV Larry” he’s become. According to Richard Plepler, HBO co-president, “you can probably put it at 50-50″.
When asked if he constantly thinks about “using the little indignities in life for his show”, LD responded that yes he does.
“Does that answer your stupid question? I can get away with that because there’s a very fine line between TV Larry’ and me.”
Larry also noted that he is “getting closer to him every day”.
Well I for one can only see that as meaning we can look forward to increasingly amusing press conferences from our beloved Mr. David.

New Weekly Poll
To encourage more discussion in the forums and more user interaction I’ve started a weekly poll. Each week I’ll post a Larry related question for fans to answer. The site is growing and getting more and more visitors each week so we should get a good response.
This week’s question: What is your favourite season of Curb Your Enthusiasm so far? You can cast your vote in the sidebar to the right of this post and then visit the forums to discuss it with other fans if you like!
Divorce filed
For those interested, Laurie David filed for divorce last week citing “irreconcilable differences”. She is seeking joint custody of their two daughters.
Excitement for Season 6 of Curb heats up!
A BIG post today. Larry has been appearing in the press and the blogosphere in the last few days due to some public appearances such as a Curb Your Enthusiasm panel at the Television Critics Association tour. The London Free Press covered this appearance where he displayed some of his characteristically playful verbal abuse:
“Every season that I do is my last season — that’s the only way I can get through the season,” he said. “If I thought I had to come back and do it again, I would never do it in the first place. So the way I trick myself is to tell everybody it’s my last season. And then after it’s over, I go, ‘Oh, maybe I’ll do another one.’ “
He went on to field the usual questions about his Jewish identity, and how some people could be offended by his humour. He also had commented on the “fine line” between and TV and the real Larry:
“I really love the guy who’s on that show,” real Larry said. “I love that guy because he says everything that I’m thinking and feeling, and he doesn’t have to behave in a way that society really wants everybody to behave. I love being that honest; I wish I could be that way in my life. It’s easier for me now, because of the show. I’m getting closer to him every day, let’s put it that way.”

And now what you’re really here for, Curb news:

A Belated Happy Birthday!
I’ve been holidaying on Australia’s sunny Gold Coast for the last week or so and during that time Larry has hit the big 6-0. On the 2nd July Mr. David turned 60 years old, and I’d like to extend a belated happy 60th to the comic genius and wish him well with the upcoming series of Curb and his own marital issues.
At around the same time I read a guest blog from Larry’s British contemporary Ricky Gervais, creator of hit shows The Office and Extras. Some of you will remember my post about the interview the two did together. They are two brilliant writers/comics and have a great chemistry which is why I was very excited to read about Ricky bumping into his “old-friend”. In a guest blog on the UK’s The Daily Mash he wrote:
Anyway, whilst we were chatting, I suggested that if he was making any more Curbs, that I should make an uncredited cameo appearance. I think he must’ve been totally overwhelmed by my artistic generosity, because he blew his cheeks out very noisily, before bowing his head. He asked me to call him (which I did ten minutes later) to set up a meeting.
Just another reason to wish for a season 7 of Curb!
Also making a lot of news recently is Curb star, Susie Essman. She’s been receiving good reviews in America and on July 13 and 14 makes her UK stand-up debut. Known for her “abrasive” and often obscene character on the HBO sitcom she claims she is not the Curb character in her show but it is defintely adults-only. So if you are one of our UK fans check out Susie Essman.
Speaking of comedians that regularly star in Curb Your Enthusisam, Richard Lewis reportedly had a great show in a tribute to comedian Mort Sahl. In the company of comedians like Albert Brooks and Jay Leno, Mark Groubert said:
But this Night at the Opera belonged to none other than Richard Lewis who turned 60 just as he took the stage. Lewis, who had somewhat disappeared into sitcom obscurity years ago, only to be resurrected by playing a version of himself on Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,†has hit his comic stride entering the free form worlds of both Lenny Bruce and the under appreciated Lord Buckley. Groovin’ high, and dressed in a zippered black suit possibly designed by the mistress of the Dali Lama, the ‘Prince of Pain’ came to compete. Melting the house and forcing grown men to weep openly Richard Lewis bombarded the crowd from one obtuse comedy angle after another. If this was the comedy World Series, Lewis was the King in his Court.
For nearly twenty minutes he induced non-stop howling by every living, breathing thing in the house.
Lastly I’d like to give you a little update on where the site is going. The forums have started to gather some participation thanks to a couple of members. I myself will be more active now I am back from holidays. I am also working on a couple unique videos that I’m sure you will enjoy and will have up as soon as possible.
