Larry on the campaign trail

I’ve held off on reporting on Larry’s active support for Barrack Obama because I didn’t want the site to have any political affiliation. But let’s face it this site is about Larry David, and Larry David is overtly political, so it is only logical that Larry David fansite is as well. Politics is important to Larry and is sometimes reflected in his work, often subtly, other times more obviously, and any fan of Larry would appreciate his politics even if they don’t always agree with him.

His active support has also supplied fans with some more of his awkward humour to enjoy. Speaking on the eve of the New Hampshire primary he told an audience:

“The country needs a shower, a good, long, hot shower. That’s what Obama is, a hot shower. So fresh you can smell him, delicious.”

He went on to tell them that his favourite Curb Your Enthusiasm episode is “The Ski Lift” (the infamous big vagina episode) and his favourite Seinfeld episodes include “The Opposite”, “The Contest” and “The Marine Biologist.”

When asked which Seinfeld character he thought would make the best president he replied:

“Newman,” he said. “Because every time he would give a press conference and walk up to the podium, everyone would say, ‘Hello Newman.’”

Read more in this article covering the visit to Dartmouth College where he was so popular with students followed him in such a manner that one young man likened him to a “Jewish pied piper”.

Lastly there is a completely unsubstantiated rumour flying around that Larry is writing a part for Michael Richards in a seventh season of Curb. I have no confirmation of this or even a season seven other than this post from the Cleveland Leader.

I leave you with another classic line from the master of making awkward situations more…awkward.

“Sinatra had the same effect on people!” (as medics attend to a woman who has collapsed during an Obama speech).
