Hey Guys, I just got a sort of preview to this year’s show. Well not really, but I did get to meet the man himself tonight here in L.A.. I went to see the new Woody Allen movie “Midnight in Paris,” at a theater in the Westside Pavilion with a friend who lives nearby. It is the kind of theater where you have to get your seats in advance. I like to sit in the last row in the corner because you have more legroom and aren’t bothered by people walking by to their seats. Unfortunately, they were already taken this morning, so I took the seats right next to them. I wondered who else likes to sit in those seats way in the back when many other better ones were available on the chart? I soon found out as the lights dimmed and a certain bald-headed man, accompanied by what looked like his teen-aged daughter sat down next to me. I recognized him as he was walking up the steps and couldn’t believe it when he sat down right next to me. I said “You went the Sheepshead Bay High School didn’t you,” trying to be cute, since I know a couple of people who went to school with him. I asked him if he knew them but he said “nah.” I couldn’t help but think this is the way he would respond on the show. I couldn’t believe how friendly he was and how I wasn’t as shy as I usually am with people I don’t know. I NEVER speak to celbs, but this was Larry David!! After the movie we sat for a while and spoke some more. He asked me where I lived in Brooklyn and we discussed the old neighborhoods. He told me he spent the first eight years of his life in the area I lived before his family moved. I told him how much I enjoyed his show and also that I enjoyed the movie he made for Woody Allen two years ago. He said thank you, and after a few minutes more of schmoozing, he said it was nice to meet me and left. He was complexly unpretentious, which actually didn’t surprise me. But you never know.
