Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season 7 confirmed

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that production of season seven will begin in December 2008. It will consist of 10 epsiodes as per usual and will air some time in 2009. Curb fans are used to waiting, IGN reminding us that there was a 21 month gap between seasons 5 and 6. Ten episodes every couple of years may not seem like much, but as any Larry David fan would admit, that’s a hell of a lot of laughs! BuddyTV says rumour has it that the season arc will revolve around Larry getting a role in a Woody Allen film, mirroring his real life work with Woody in Whatever Works, also set to be released next year. 2009 is shaping up to be great year for Larry fans!

Larry at the Emmys

Larry appeared at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday with his 14-year old daughter Romy (Video). Curb was nominated for a few awards including “Outstanding Comedy Series” but didn’t take any home unfortunately with 30 Rock spoiling the party in most regards.

Larry was also photographed with Tom Hanks at HBO’s post award reception.

Rumoured Season 7 Story Arc

According to BuddyTV, its rumoured that Curb Your Enthusiasm’s new season’s story arc will mirror Larry’s own life and involve him getting a part in a Woody Allen movie.

“Whatever Works”

That’s the title of Larry’s upcoming collaboration with Woody Allen. Duane Dudek from Journal Sentinel talked to Woody this week where he not only revealed the title of the movie but that it is a “comedy, but a slightly different one for me. It’s a blackish comedy.”

When asked about the similarities in his and Larry’s comedic sensibilities Woody had this to say:

“He’s got a great thing of his own. He’s got a great, what would you call it, sarcastic, sour or vitriolic, wonderful, wonderful, no nonsense sense of humor.”

“I think I’m more illusory than him. Hes a stronger personality. I’m more of a schlemiel, a dope. I would be the guy they would plant the microfilm on and I would never know it, and I would be out there wondering why people are shooting at me. Larry has a different quality.”

Curb Season 7 almost Confirmed

HBO President Michael Lombardo had this to say on Friday the 11th July at the Television Critics Association’s Summer press tour in Beverly Hills regarding a seventh season of Curb Your Enthusiasm:

Larry has said he’s coming back. We have a deal for him to come back for another season. … He hasn’t started shooting, but yeah, we’re counting on it”.

He wouldn’t use the word “guarantee” but said that the network hoped a seventh season would debut at the end of next year.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 7- a year and a bit away?

Jeff Garlin appeared at press junket for the new Pixar film WALL-E, in which he stars. Chud.com reports Jeff had to say this about a seventh season of Curb:

The earliest we would be on the air would be a year from now, and I’m guessing a year from this fall.

Let me just tell you what Curb Your Enthusiasm is like for me and Larry. We do all first drafts - there’s no rewriting, it’s all first drafts. When we get to the set, let’s say it’s a scene where Larry and I are driving somewhere, talking about something. They’ll say ‘Speed,’ meaning the sound and cameras are ready to go, and I’ll turn to Larry and say, ‘What’s this scene about?’ He’ll say ‘I don’t remember.’ We’ll call over the AD, who has a small version of the script, and we’ll look at it and say ‘Oh, okay.’ So I won’t know until I’m filming that day. I mean, I read the outlines in advance, but I forget them by the time we go into production.

Jeff Garlin talks Season 7 of Curb

This will be very welcome news for a lot of fans. Jeff Garlin talked to Vern Glenn from KRON 4 in late March, yet somehow the interview has eluded all of the entertainment sites and even me for a couple months.

Jeff can’t say when we can expect season 7, but he does confirm Larry is writing it! At the time of the interview Larry was working on the second episode and was about to fly to New York to start filming with Woody Allen. He’s since finished filming so let’s hope he has continued writing. More news will follow as I learn it, but I hope this confirmation brings a smile to a lot of the fans who have been commenting about how badly they want a seventh season.
