Excitement for Season 6 of Curb heats up!
A BIG post today. Larry has been appearing in the press and the blogosphere in the last few days due to some public appearances such as a Curb Your Enthusiasm panel at the Television Critics Association tour. The London Free Press covered this appearance where he displayed some of his characteristically playful verbal abuse:
“Every season that I do is my last season — that’s the only way I can get through the season,” he said. “If I thought I had to come back and do it again, I would never do it in the first place. So the way I trick myself is to tell everybody it’s my last season. And then after it’s over, I go, ‘Oh, maybe I’ll do another one.’ “
He went on to field the usual questions about his Jewish identity, and how some people could be offended by his humour. He also had commented on the “fine line” between and TV and the real Larry:
“I really love the guy who’s on that show,” real Larry said. “I love that guy because he says everything that I’m thinking and feeling, and he doesn’t have to behave in a way that society really wants everybody to behave. I love being that honest; I wish I could be that way in my life. It’s easier for me now, because of the show. I’m getting closer to him every day, let’s put it that way.”

And now what you’re really here for, Curb news:
Korbi Ghosh from EOnline posted the latest “scoop” on season 6, summarised below:
- John from Cincinnati stars Rebecca De Mornay and Ed O’Neill may appear this season.
- The premiere episode will feature Larry’s “surefire method of getting out of a party you don’t really want to attend”.
- Tennis legend John McEnroe will also be guest starring this season.
- Finally, Larry David is totally open to additional seasons of Curb.
When [last] season ended, I went back to my office and I was sitting at my desk and I thought, ‘Hmmm, I have nothing to do…this is very uncomfortable,’ and so [I decided to do another one]…[A seventh season] is possible. We’ll have to see what I‘m thinking when I get back to my desk.â€
Lastly Larry also told reporters he wouldn’t mind using his divorce from Laurie as a source for material. When asked about ever returning to stand -up, Larry was quoted as saying , “It would probably be about the divorce. If I was going onstage, of course I would talk about it. How could I not?”
Always making a joke and never dissapointing Larry told the press, “Well, after the divorce I went home and turned all the lights on!” When asked if his real life divorce meant Cheryl would also disappear in possible future episodes of Curb, Larry turned to Cheryl Hines and said, “Oh, it’s too bad you’re going to be off the show in the seventh season. What a shame! It’s a good idea for the seventh season, by the way.”
I leave you with Larry answering a “stupid question” by a reporter from Television Critics Association tour:
Reporter: “Why are you so willing to portray yourself . . .”
David: “Careful, careful . . .”
Reporter: “You are portraying yourself . . .”
David: “Careful . . .”
Reporter: “. . . as such a shmuck?”
David: “I’m portraying you, shmucko. That’s you, too, not just me.”
This press exchange just proves how awesome Larry is. He has not a saccharine bone in his body. He is truly a comedy treasure!!!!
I think it´s great that there might even be a 7th season of Curb.
For now, I´m looking forward to the upcoming season. I haven´t seen Ed O´Neill for quite some time, so I´d be happy to see him on Curb.
And I think it´s funny how Larry dealt with the question about his divorce.
By the way, does anyone know where I can find the whole interview with Larry?
Last year Matt Stone and Trey Parker from South Park were at the Television Critics Association tour and the complete interview with them was on some fansites right after the tour.
Hi Nadine. I haven’t been able to find a full transcript of the interview, however IGN has a more in depth coverage of it:
