Season 9 Episode 5 Review: Thank You for Your Service
Larry commits a faux pas with Sammi’s fiancé; Larry tries to start over with his mail carrier and a golf club security guard.
I enjoyed this episode a lot more than the last one. I love when an episode that starts with banter between Larry and Richard. The theme of this episode revolves around the “reset”. That is, to reboot a relationship with someone when you’ve taken it to the next level but quickly regret it. With Curb you can often sense what’s going to unfold but it’s funny nonetheless. I mean we could all see the ending with Mr. Takahashi and Ken’s wife but seeing Larry there at the car with in his civil war get-up still made it pretty comical. I enjoyed some of the social faux pas & conventions Larry takes up in this one. Calling a baby Asian, not thanking a veteran for their service, save the date cards, making a face. I have to agree with Larry’s lovely mail-person though that salty and sweet are most definitely in cahoots.
- Larry accusing Richard of making up a story about fucking a garbage woman. Not sure why I found this exchange so funny.
- “You gotta beckon!”
- “I didn’t hit, I didn’t tap it, I didn’t tear into it and we still get no mail”
- Larry replaying the waiter imitating the chef “making a face”
